Dancing in the Moonlight - A Scene I Can’t Forget

I’ve been meaning to write about this for months—but yep, procrastination took over.

There’s this absolutely lovely scene in Season 4 of Emily in Paris.

It happens during the Heartbreak Perfume Masquerade event—flawlessly executed by Emily, obviously. Maison Lavaux launches a poignant new fragrance with Baccarat called Heartbreak, and hosts a black and white masquerade ball to celebrate (Emily's genius idea, as always).

Always the one to make an entrance, Emily’s wearing this striped body suit head-to-toe accented by a belted open-front skirt, accessorized with a wide-brimmed black hat and a lace eye mask. Iconic!

And Gabriel? Looking fine in his black tux, his eyes searching for our Emily.

And then they find eachother. ✨✨ As the song Dancing in the Moonlight by Isla June begins to play, they step onto the dance floor. Such a soothing song!!

Now comes the part that completely melted my heart: Gabriel and Emily dancing together.

Adorable as ever 🥹

And then Emily whispers to him: “Sometimes I wish there was nobody else, just us.”

And Gabriel replies:“Why can’t it be?” 😭

He takes her hand and then? Boom — everyone else fades... into the background. Just them. In their own little universe. Like, even when they’re in a crowded room, it’s obvious they only see each other. That transition was BREATHTAKING. The camera work, the editing... hats off. Seriously.

I’ve rewatched that scene sooo many times(And in the process, I fell in love with this song Dancing in the Moonlight. That song is now permanently stuck in my heart.)

Also I really, really hope Emily ends up with Gabriel. They just belong together. She looks way better with him than with Alfie, Marcello, or anyone else. I know the show plays around with love triangles and drama, but if we’re being honest… Gabriel is the one. He always has been.

It took me forever to sit down and write this—but maybe I just needed to fall for that scene one more time. Totally worth it. 💖
